So, I just realized the other day that I'm losing touch with the 21st century. Here I am, thinking I'm doing pretty well because I have an Ipod, when all around me the world is changing, technology is advancing, and I'm slowly getting left behind. It's embarrassing because I'm only 26, and a little bit frightening; if I lose touch now, what's it going to be like 10 years from now? 20 years? I wonder if I'll be like my mother...she once found a website she wanted to show us, so she printed it out and faxed it over...will I be that person? Terrifying thought.
I had this epiphany this weekend, when my friend was telling me all about squatters and people who sell domain names for tons of money. When I admitted I had never even been on Twitter, he gave me such a look of disgust that it made me start to reconsider my stance on refusing to accept any new internet trends. He suggested I visit some site on Twitter where this guy posts funny stuff his dad says. I checked it out, and it was pretty funny--I have to admit I spent a good fifteen minutes there reading everything. But I'm not quite ready to start going on Twitter regularly; I need to take baby steps, here. Still, my eyes are open.
Newly aware of my deficiencies, I am now setting out to do something about it. So yesterday, I subscribed to a technology podcast called Current Tech by Sarah Lane. I haven't actually listened to it yet--I'll be checking it out tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. Meanwhile, I've also started blogging, as you can clearly see. So baby steps, right? Baby step onto the elevator...baby step into the elevator...
